I have been slowwwwly synthesizing a lot of this stuff on my own through trial and error, but this book is revolutionary in its simplicity, thoroughly evidence-based approach, and accessibility for the layperson. It is the ultimate urtext for people interested in total mind-body wellness WITHOUT a dogmatic approach. I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! I'm recommending it to everyone I know. Thank you, guys!!!!
Primal Endurance is probably the most outstanding and mind-blowing book I have been exposed to during the past eight years dedicated to reading and compiling (theoretical+practical) information about self health care.
My interest in the subject started at age 60 when I radically changed eating habits according to Alain Delabos' chrononutrition, a (popular) French variant of LCHF diet taking into account chronobiology. The main visible effect was the loss of 25 kilos overweight and a feeling of reverse aging. I had associated this practice with some endurance training, spending 3 hours a day walking to/from office.
A few years later I adopted HIIT on a regular basis after reading from various sources. However I missed essential points to articulate strength training with endurance training. I mostly missed an understanding of moderate, age-adapted, cardio training. I even did Tabata sessions with a heart reaching 160 bpm which might have contributed to the breaking of atherome plaque resulting in the need for 4 stents to overcome chronic coronary syndrome. I should have been aware of Dr. Phil Maffetone's formula! More precisely, I needed an insight into the very precise and careful practice of sprinting as described in this book.
I enjoy reading Primal Endurance — a slow process since I am not familiar with the language. I like the detailed descriptions, warnings, summaries, testimonies, biodata, index… The editorial approach is close to my wife's book "Le Corps Accordé"…
For years I have been riding the fitness wave. I believe I have tried every possible style and protocol out there, but I always suspected that something was not right, something was not clicking. It should not be this difficult and draining to maintain a certain degree of fitness.
My suspicions were more than validated with "Primal Endurance". Let me back up a bit - my suspicions were really validated with "Primal Blueprint", which led me to "Primal Endurance" where it all came together.
It's difficult to describe the relief, calmness, wellness, energy and happiness I feel now, having left ALL the hype behind. I quit my gym membership - that was an unbelievably free and uplifting day - walking back home I had such a great feeling of lightness and speed. I had to stop by the park and run a few sprints - what a great feeling!
Having only been at it a few weeks now I can clearly see and say with resolve that I am a fully committed lifetime student of Primal fitness. If only I would have had this knowledge a long time ago!
